Table Recovering
Cloth wears out. When the nap goes shiny in the break area, balls start skidding rather than rolling, and no amount of brushing brings it back. Recovering is also the one moment the table is open, so it's the right time to correct everything underneath.
What the job includes
- Old cloth stripped from bed and rails
- Slate inspected, seams re-waxed and sanded flush
- Table re-levelled before the new cloth goes on
- New cloth fitted and stretched on the bed
- Rails re-covered and re-fitted, pockets re-hung
- Cushions checked for dead spots while the rails are off
What we'll need from you
- Table size, and brand if you know it
- Cloth and colour you'd like — we carry Simonis, Championship and Hainsworth
- How the table is playing now: skidding, rolling off, dead rails
- Whether the table has been moved or re-levelled since it was installed
Good to know
Recovering usually takes half a day, done in your room. The table doesn't leave.
Worsted cloth (Simonis and similar) plays faster and lasts longer than napped cloth, and costs more up front. We'll talk through which suits how you actually play.
If the cushions have gone dead, recovering alone won't fix it — see repairs below. Better to find that out before the new cloth goes on.
