1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to align with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Manitoba privacy law.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account details — name, email, and (for signed-in shoppers) order history and saved preferences.
- Order details — shipping address, phone, order line items, and the email used for guest checkout.
- Payment details — processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers; we receive only a token and non-sensitive metadata (last four digits, card brand, billing postal code).
- Communication — messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Technical data — IP address, browser, and basic page-view metrics. Captured by our privacy-friendly analytics provider; no cookies are used for tracking individuals.
3. How we use it
- To fulfill orders, schedule service, and provide support.
- To communicate about your order, account, or service booking.
- To improve the site and the catalog, using aggregated metrics that do not identify you individually.
- With your explicit opt-in, to send marketing emails about new arrivals and promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing message.
- To meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary, with service providers acting on our behalf:
- Stripe — for payment processing.
- Shipping carriers — for delivery and tracking.
- Email and analytics providers — for transactional email and aggregated traffic measurement.
- Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to investigate fraud.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. Our analytics provider is configured for privacy: no third-party cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles.
6. How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as required by tax and accounting rules (typically seven years in Canada). Account profiles are kept until you ask us to delete them. Marketing-list membership is kept until you unsubscribe.
7. Your rights
You may, at any time, request that we:
- Show you the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete it, except where we are required to keep it for legal reasons (e.g., order records for tax compliance).
- Stop using it for marketing.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@avogameroom.com. If you are unhappy with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for all traffic, store passwords as one-way hashes, and limit administrative access to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you we will notify you as required by law.
9. Children
The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “effective date” above shows the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated by a prominent notice on the site.
11. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to info@avogameroom.com.
